Person Centered Care Perspectives: Christine DeVault, RNCare Services Director

“What’s your secret? Why is everyone so happy at The Gathering Place? ”

From the viewpoint of someone on the outside looking in they see a lot of healthy, engaged people, enjoying a host of activities in a community of friends and caring staff. What people may not understand is that we help each person get to that place, sometimes overcoming significant obstacles.

Our whole-person approach is centered on the unique situation of each participant. We know that to be successful, each person needs a whole set of healthy circumstances and we tailor them to each person’s needs: —Nutrition —Medical Support —Physical Activity —Social Engagement —Creative and Intellectual Opportunities

Rarely, as a nurse, do you have the opportunity to work in an environment where every participant is succeeding. Here at The Gathering Place, we offer this full suite of wholeperson centered care, and we enjoy seeing the rewarding results every day.

From a clinical perspective, we’re able to monitor each person’s physical and mental well-being, while providing a wide variety of social activities that promote and nurture independence and autonomy. We connect with their primary care providers to give updates and will soon provide telehealth services – which is easier for everyone.

From the family’s perspective, they enjoy the peace of mind knowing that their loved one is not
only safe and secure, but thriving in an environment of total care.

From the participant’s perspective, they are just happy to have another wonderful day!
