Fundraisers

Fundraising is important to The Gathering Place. We rely on our annual fundraisers to generate excitement in our communities about our services. Our fundraising events also boost our capability to offer unique activities to our participants.

We try to put the “fun” into fundraising. Our events are meant to be fun, lighthearted and to get people to stop and ask us about the event itself and also about The Gathering Place. Because they are so important to us, we hope you share these events with your friends and families.

Support for Programming

Our fundraising events help us bring in experts, artists and other programming that generate conversation, and build upon our sense of community. When we have unexpected repairs to pay for, our fundraising events also help us garner the support of our community. The money raised from our annual fundraisers support the wellness and promote socialization and emotional well-being of all our participants.

Make a Difference

Our fundraisers also give the community an opportunity to make a difference for the families who cannot afford the full cost of The Gathering Place for their loved ones. Scholarships and sliding scale fees are supplemented in part by the generous donations of our communities.

Joe Reagan's Birthday

Joe Reagan is a past participant of The Gathering Place.  Though Joe has left us his spirit lives on and is celebrated by folks from the Deerfield Valley at Dot's of Dover in February.  Joe's daughter Betsey celebrates his life by hosting an open house at the restaurant with the proceeds from the day donated to TGP.  It is a fun event, open to the public and is complete with a birthday cake commemorating Joe.

Cow Plop What?

Think you know when and where Betsy will “plop” during the Brattleboro heifer parade? Then let's play! Our spring fundraiser, Cow Plop Bingo, is a 50/50 split cash prize raffle. Raffle tickets are sold for $5 each, both ahead of time and on the day of the parade in downtown Brattleboro at The Gathering Place, 30 Terrace Street. Or purchase your tickets online. Either way, you don't want to miss out on the fun.

Cow Plop Bingo always garners laughs and interest from our downtown Brattleboro community. This year, the Heifer parade is happening on June 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., on Main Street. Dance to the MOOOsic is this year's theme, so we'll be planning on incorporating moovement into our float and other activities.

Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Jazz Concert

Annually Mary Jane Finnegan, owner of Twice Blessed, hosts a jazz concert to benefit The Gathering Place at Wilmington's Memorial Hall.  Artists such as Chris Bakriges, Bidi Dworkin, John Kozinski, Mark Dunlop and Denny Ray Pellitier are familiar faces performing favorites for patrons of all ages. We are grateful for this partnership and the generosity of those who attend.

Fall Open House Art Raffle

At our fall open house, we raffle off a piece of art created by a local artist. Tickets are $5 each, five for $25, or thirty for $100. Purchase your tickets online or at The Gathering Place on 30 Terrace Street in downtown Brattleboro. Winners are announced both on our website and on our Facebook page. Decorate your walls with art from local artists, and help us give our participants everything they need to feel loved, cherished and welcomed at The Gathering Place.

Participant Fundraising

One of our renowned resident artists, Melody, designs, paints and sells works of art with 100% of the proceeds donated to The Gathering Place.  Her works are one of a kind, colorful and playful.  She works diligently to get every piece just right!
